Starship Billiards opened in Springfield, Illinois back in 1991 and has been a top billiards destination for the central Illinois region ever since. Owned by good friends Chuck Harris and Dave Shanle, they have worked tirelessly for nearly 30 years to make Starship Billiards a friendly environment for patrons to enjoy good-hearted fun. With fifteen pool tables, a full-service bar, dart boards, and a fully updated video gaming area, there is something for everyone at Starship Billiards!
What sets Starship Billiards apart from other Accel locations is their relatively recent switch from a competitor Terminal Operator. Accel representatives sat down with Trey Harris (Chuck’s son) to talk about everything they’ve achieved with Accel and why they initially made the switch to Accel. *
Accel: You guys were partnered with a different Terminal Operator for a while. Can you tell me a little bit about why you decided to make the switch to Accel Entertainment?
Trey: It was just time for a change and we really liked the idea Accel had. Accel came in and gave a good pitch and had some more great ideas and it was just the right thing to do and we're glad that we did.
Accel: Accel helped re-design Starship Billiards’ gaming area, was that an integral part of making the switch to Accel?
Trey: Yeah that had a lot to do with it. It just seemed that in our opinion, Accel knew a little bit more about the gambling side of our business. That had a big factor on why we decided to go with Accel, and I think it has proved true so far.
Accel: Can you tell us a little bit about the marketing that Accel Entertainment has helped you with?
Trey: Yeah that's been really good, I think it turned out really well. The window decals were another thing that were y'alls idea. They look great, the outside sign that y'all put out there looks really, really good.
Accel: Accel Entertainment prides itself on being a true partner for our establishments. Can you tell me about the people from Accel that you’ve worked with?
Trey: Oh yeah, they stop by all the time. I think they’re great, we pretty much see someone once a month if not more than that. They’ve been great and it has made a difference. It's just nice to get to know people on a personable level. I think that makes a big difference too, that stands out in comparison to other companies as well.
Clearly, the partnership with Accel Entertainment has greatly benefitted both the owners and the patrons at Starship Billiards. Now that their new gaming area (affectionately know as the Stardust Lounge) is officially up and running, Starship Billiards is planning on hosting a huge Customer Appreciation event, with help from the AE Street Team. The event will be held on October 26th, 2019 at Starship Billiards in Springfield, IL. Come out and have a great time at one of Accel’s locations!
